New Year's Eve

This New Year's Eve, my husband and I wanted to spend some memorable time with each other to end the year well. So, we did just that. We packed our bags and headed out for the hotel. A beautiful room with a "SWEET DREAMS" bed. We thought about joining the large crowd at Victory Park, but the crowds and the cold weather didn't sound fun to us. What was more beautiful was to spend the time together just talking and enjoying the comfort of "US"

We brought along our wine and toasted to a good year & for the year to come. We toasted to being together & loving these moments together. We talked about last year and the goals we each had individually and goals we had together that worked and those that did not work for us. Besides all that, the Lord has been so good to us. We have been blessed indeed to have one another all these years & to have our relationship founded on the Rock of Jesus Christ. We couldn't have done it without Him. To some, that doesn't mean much, but to us it means everything!

We talked about our professional lives and the goals we had accomplished. We are thankful we were only without a job for 2 weeks. What a great new beginning to start the year with a new job. It's truly a miracle and a blessing. My job takes alot of energy and physical effort, but I know it is a gift God has given me because I am so blessed as well as those who receive it. We both have planned to do more schooling to be better at what we do professionally.

We both have grown and stretched this year and we both are looking forward to what God will do in this next year. We know that no matter what happens, we will be alright & that the Lord is in control & that He is looking out for our good. We believe and we have seen God turn the worst of situations into blessings. You just never know what God's foreknowledge is until you see it unfold or after the fact. My husband made the point that we are living now in answers to our long past prayers and it just dawned on him. We both had tears as we both acknowldeged that and the reality of God's goodness to us. My husband and I talked about listening to Him more intently, praying more together, & believeing in God for the results as we act on His promptings in our lives. We recommitted to cling together in the Lord and continue to seek Him and to know Him more. We want to glorify Him more with our lives in every way & to live in obedience to Him and the fact is we fail at it each day. So, no New Year's resolutions here that are doomed to failure. Everytime we want to improve or accomplish something, we need to be careful who we are glorifying & to seek the Lord for our motive. We know a little more each day the reality that we are nothing without Christ.

We talked about some personal things we want to work on and our children and our soon to be born grandson. To some, we look like a family that has alot of problems and some may see us as a rather strange bunch or mix. We drive old cars, our daughter has piercings and tatoos all over her body & is preganant and not married.. Our son looks like a rock star who now has long hair, I'm overweight, and my husband is an overly big guy with a mild mannered personality. You can never judge a book by it's cover. It's what's inside that might surprise you. It's who wrote it that counts and who put your name in it!

We are missionaries with The Brook Ministries in Costa Rica. We are here to help strengthen the church body of Jesus Christ & to fulfill His Great commission to the lost. At our conferences, my husband directs the recreational activities & excursions. I provide physical renewal with massage for the female attendees. We believe that regularly scheduled renewal of the body, mind, & spirit for ministry leaders in particular, will empower them to serve the Lord with renewed strength & perseverance to do what God has uniquely called them to do....SERVE & BUILD HIS CHURCH to the outermost parts of the world!
